The Guard Passport: what it is and what you need to complete it

By the Squadvine team, a group of security guardsUpdated 2 October 20264 min read

Every security company asks for the same things: your licence, your right to work, your history, your references. The Guard Passport is one profile that holds all of it, so you fill it in once and use it for every application on Squadvine.

The short version

  • The Guard Passport has 7 steps and is free.
  • You need your SIA licence, photo ID, proof of address, right-to-work proof and two references.
  • A company sees your Passport only after you apply to it.
  • It saves you repeating forms. It does not replace the company's own checks.

What the Guard Passport is

It is your application profile. Instead of a new form for every company, you complete one Passport and send it with a tap when you apply. Companies receive a complete profile, which means fewer questions back to you and quicker decisions.

The 7 steps

  1. 1

    Personal details

Your name, date of birth, mobile number, home address and postcode.

  2. 2

    SIA licence

The 16-digit licence number as printed on your card, the licence type (Door Supervisor, Security Guard, CCTV, Close Protection or Key Holding) and the expiry date.

  3. 3

    Right to work

Your nationality and proof type: a British or Irish passport, a Home Office share code, or an eVisa or BRP.

  4. 4

    Work history

Your most recent employer, role and dates. You can add a previous employer too.

  5. 5

    References

Two references, each with a name and email address. A phone number is optional.

  6. 6

    Document uploads

The front of your SIA licence, a photo ID and proof of address.

  7. 7

    Declaration and consent

You confirm the information is true, agree to share your Passport with companies you apply to, and consent to screening and reference checks.

Tips for getting it right first time

  • Copy your licence number from the card itself and check the expiry date.
  • Tell your references to expect an email, and use addresses they actually check.
  • Take clear photos of your documents in good light, with all four corners showing.
  • Use your real name exactly as it appears on your licence and ID.

Who can see your Passport

A company sees your Passport only after you apply to it. Other companies cannot see it, and companies cannot see each other's applicants.

If someone referred you, they see only your name, email, Passport progress, status and hours worked. They never see your documents, your answers or your bank details. There is more on the trust and safety page.

What the Passport does not do

Squadvine does not vet officers. The company that hires you is your employer and carries out its own checks, including BS 7858 screening and right to work. Your Passport saves you filling in the same details again and again; it does not replace those checks.

Once your Passport is complete, the step-by-step guide to using Squadvine shows how to apply to companies, share your link and get paid.

Common questions

Does the Guard Passport cost anything?

No. It is free for officers.

Can I change my Passport after I submit it?

Each step saves separately, so you can go back to a step and update it. Keep your licence expiry date and contact details current.

Do I need a Passport to refer people?

You can share your link as soon as you have an account. Completing your own Passport is what lets you apply to companies yourself.

Ready to start?

It's free for officers. Always.

Example only. You earn when people you refer are hired and work confirmed hours.
